Essential Question to this website:
How does the knowledge I gained from my mentorship develop an ability to minister and evangelize in the missions field?
I have been a part of a mentorship program as an youth intern at my church this past year. This website is a result of that program. I was to choose a topic related to my mentorship and create an essential question. Then, I was to build a website off of that question. I hope this website will aid anyone who has questions about mission trips. You will find videos, links to websites, an in-person interview, and a presentation by me.
I chose this topic and question because mission trips interest me. I have been on 2 in my life and hope to go on more, so I wanted to learn more about them. I have discovered that the main thing is to be in communication with God always. You have to listen to Him to know where you are called because everyone is a missionary. The knowledge gained from my mentorship to apply to a mission trip is event planning, but it was mostly spiritual growth and knowledge. My personal mission trip experiences have been great to reflect on and use in this project. I went on one mission trip towards the end of my mentorship, and it was cool to see how the knowledge I gained this year played a factor in that mission trip.
As I was researching this topic, there was one quote that stood out to me, "Everybody is a missionary." In Matthew 28:19-20, Jesus commands to go and make disciples of all nations. It doesn't matter if you want to travel globally, nationally, or stay in your own town, you are a missionary wherever you are. And while this website focuses on mission trips and traveling, missionaries are not limited to world travelers. I hope this website will be useful to those who do travel and the people who mission locally.
